The brief was for a major refurbishment and to add an additional bedroom through a rear two-storey extension. The client also wanted to add another link from the kitchen to the reception rooms. The house is located within the green belt, so we had to be considerate about how much we added to the building.
A key element of the brief was to be sympathetic to the original features of the house, such as the grand staircase with domed ceiling, and to make them a point of emphasis. An example of this is where we will carefully remove striking double doorset from the existing bootroom and reinstall them into the entrance hall.
Planning permission was granted in Spring 2022, and construction is due to begin in the Summer of 2022.
