Hunters Hill – Lingfield

THE BRIEF

Update and re-order the internal space of this character period cottage to provide the family with an open plan kitchen/diner, a reworked entrance hall/staircase and update the living room and study area.

THE UPRIGHT APPROACH

This renovation build took a slight twist when it was selected to appear on the Channel 4 TV programme, George Clarke’s Old House New Home. Timelines for this project were extremely tight due to the production team scheduling.  The staircase was completely removed and turned, the wall dividing the kitchen was removed, an opening for bi-fold doors was created and doors fitted and the property was decorated throughout.  For more information on how this build was managed as part of the Channel 4 programme click here.

THE RESULT

The property now had a spacious entrance hall leading to the newly created kitchen/dining area with bi-fold doors opening out onto the garden.  The kitchen island placed where the dividing wall once was, provides a social and workable space in the kitchen.  The inclusion of an under window seating area within the kitchen also doubles up as storage so this new kitchen, making great use of the space.  Neutral colours throughout compliment the original beams of the property and provide an airy and light feel.

We hired Upright as a contractor to build a rear extension to allow for an open plan kitchen/dining room. We changed the internal reconfiguration of the house which included adding an additional snug to the living room, creating the perfect family environment.  Along with the open plan kitchen/dining room we added additional utility room next to it. I couldn’t recommend the Upright Property Group more, the services they offer from architectural to the build phase is second to none.
